Switzerland rain radar, live
This rain radar shows precipitation observed over Switzerland and its neighbours during the last two hours, frame by frame (every 10 minutes), followed by a 30-minute radar forecast (nowcasting). Colours show intensity: light blue = light rain, green/yellow = moderate rain, orange/red = heavy showers or thunderstorms, purple = possible hail. Zoom in on your area to see whether rain is arriving or moving away.

How to read the radar
- Direction: play the animation; in Switzerland rain systems mostly arrive from the west or south-west, and summer thunderstorms often build over the Jura and the Pre-Alps in the late afternoon.
- Intensity: from blue (≈ 0.5 mm/h) to red (> 30 mm/h). Compact red/purple cells are thunderstorms, often with gusts and sometimes hail.
- Terrain: the radar may underestimate precipitation in deep Alpine valleys (beam blocking) and overestimate melting snow (bright band).
- Snow: in winter, blue echoes over the mountains are usually snow; compare with the snow line shown on the ski resort pages.
Detailed weather
15-day and hourly forecasts for major cities and ski resorts:
How often is the radar updated?
A new radar image is available roughly every 10 minutes. The page reloads the frame list each time it is opened; reload it for the latest image.
Does the radar show snow?
Yes — the radar detects all precipitation. In winter and at altitude, blue/green echoes are often snow. Today's snow line is shown on every ski resort page.
Can the radar forecast rain?
For 30 to 60 minutes, yes: the animation shows how rain areas move and the last 30 minutes displayed are an extrapolation (nowcasting). Beyond that, use the hourly forecasts on the town pages.
