Where is there snow in Switzerland?
This page ranks the 130 Swiss ski resorts by modelled snow depth at two altitudes — the village and the summit — and by the fresh snow expected over the next seven days. The ranking is recomputed every night. In Switzerland the gap between the two altitudes decides everything: a resort can be green at the bottom and covered above 2,000 m, which a single figure hides entirely.
3 Swiss ski resorts have snow on the ground. Leading: Saas-Fee, Arolla, Zermatt.

Ranking updated on 27.09.2026. Modelled values (Open-Meteo), not measurements taken on the slopes.
How to read the ranking
- Two altitudes, not one. The «summit» column tells you whether the resort is skiable; the «village» column tells you whether you will have to ride the gondola back down.
- Fresh snow over 7 days. This is the forecast total, not the snowpack: 30 cm on a bare base is not a season yet.
- Rain-snow line. Given on each resort page: above it snows, below it rains — and rain on snow ruins the pack faster than a dry thaw.
- These are modelled values, computed at the stated altitude, not measurements taken on the slopes. For piste conditions and lift openings, the resort remains the source.
When does the season start?
The Swiss glaciers (Zermatt, Saas-Fee, Diavolezza) run part of the summer. Large high-altitude resorts usually open in late November, mid-mountain resorts in mid-December, and small family resorts around Christmas, snow permitting. The first lasting snowfalls above 2,000 m usually come between mid-October and mid-November.
Detailed forecasts by resort
How often is this ranking updated?
Every night, along with the forecasts on the 12,000 pages of the site. The update date is shown under the table.
Why two snow depths per resort?
Because in Switzerland altitude decides everything. A resort running from 1,200 to 3,000 m can be fully covered at the top and green at the bottom. A single figure would make it look closed while skiing is excellent from the mid-station up.
Do these figures replace the resort's own snow report?
No. They are weather-model values, useful to compare 130 resorts at a glance and to plan ahead. Piste openings, snow quality and grooming cannot be modelled — they come from the resort.
Data: ICON and IFS models via Open-Meteo, computed at each resort's village and summit altitude. Model estimates, not on-site measurements.
